I read the book "Then She Was Gone" by Lisa Jewell over the summer because I've gotten many recommendations on it.

It's a mystery/thriller, so my cup of tea. However, as I kept reading, I realized this book may not have been the one for me.

Now, if you've read the book and enjoyed it, that's great for you. My opinion shouldn't matter. I just feel as though it didn't really meet my expectations.

Also I dislike sad endings. I NEED a happy ending in order to enjoy a book or else I'll sob uncontrollably and won't stop ever.

I mean, I also cry while reading happy books too so I'm not sure if that's a valid reason...

This is spoiler free so if you haven't read the book yet, don't worry.

I guess to start things off, this book is about a girl who went missing ten years before the present timeline. This girl, named Ellie, was fifteen when she disappeared and her family fell apart due to her disappearance.

It seemed as though everyone could "move on" except her mother, Laurel. In the present time, ten years later, Laurel meets a man whose daughter looks strikingly similar to her Ellie when she was that age. And Laurel has to figure out what is going on and what happened to her precious daughter Ellie.

When you start reading the book, you get straight into it. Ellie's disappearance was very predictable as the author literally wrote it in the beginning. I guess her motive was for us readers to find out the reason behind why she was truly kidnapped.

It was honestly very heartbreaking to know what Ellie went through and how Laurel looked for her daughter for years. I could not stop crying throughout the whole book and I think the pain is the reason for me not liking this book. It just hurt so bad.

I don't even want to think about it, I'm not even going to lie.

I think if you need a good heart breaking and a good cry, this book may be for you. I'd honestly give this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

This book was overall an interesting read. Lisa Jewell's writing is fantastic and it didn't fail to make me cry. I just wish things went a different way because like I said, I don't like sad endings.

I know this is super short but that's all I have to say about this book for now. I definitely recommend reading it if my comments intrigued you at all!

Have a great day, lovelies!
